Employer Sponsored Retirement Plans

Employer-Sponsored Retirement Plan Consulting

Organizations that sponsor retirement plans play an important role in providing employees with access to retirement savings resources, plan structure, and education to support informed financial decisions. We take this role seriously.

Every organization that sponsors a retirement plan has a responsibility to thoughtfully consider the resources, plan structure, and support available to help employees prepare for their financial futures.

FoxHedge works with corporations, nonprofits, and governmental entities to design, manage, and continuously improve retirement plans that deliver on that promise. Whether you sponsor a 401(k), 403(b), or 457 plan, the complexity of fiduciary responsibility, investment oversight, and participant engagement is real, and the stakes for your employees are higher than most plan sponsors fully appreciate.

We're here to change that.

Our Role as Your Fiduciary Partner

Retirement plan consulting is not a compliance checkbox. It is an ongoing fiduciary relationship, and we treat it that way.

Depending on the engagement, FoxHedge and IHT may provide non-discretionary investment advice as an ERISA Section 3(21) fiduciary or discretionary investment management services as an ERISA Section 3(38) investment manager. Plan fiduciaries remain responsible for prudently selecting and monitoring service providers and for duties not delegated under the applicable agreement.

Either way, you have a named fiduciary partner at the table, not a vendor

Plan Types We Support

Our experience spans the full range of employer-sponsored retirement structures:

401(k) plans for private sector employers of all sizes

403(b) plans for nonprofits, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations

457 plans for governmental and non-governmental entities navigating the unique regulatory environment these plans carry

Defined contribution plans of varying design

Cash balance

Defined benefit plans

Non-qualified deferred compensation plans

Executive benefits and supplemental retirement arrangements

Each plan type carries its own regulatory, administrative, and fiduciary considerations. We bring the expertise to navigate all of them, and the discipline to make sure each is designed and managed with care.

What We Do

Our retirement plan advisory services span the full lifecycle of plan stewardship:

Plan design and strategic consulting: aligning plan structure with organizational goals and participant needs

Investment lineup construction and monitoring: building menus with intention, reviewing them with rigor

Fiduciary governance and committee support: establishing clear process, documentation, and accountability

Fee benchmarking and cost analysis: ensuring your plan remains competitively priced and defensible

Vendor evaluation and RFP assistance: independent guidance through recordkeeper searches and transitions

Participant education and financial wellness: our primary area of focus, and the heart of what we do

Retirement readiness and distribution planning: helping participants understand not just how to save, but how to land

Participant Education

Our Differentiator

We believe the effectiveness of a retirement plan should be evaluated by how well it supports participants' retirement planning needs. That moment of introduction matters enormously, and most plans handle it poorly.

We believe the success of a retirement plan is ultimately measured not by its investment lineup or its fee structure, but by participant outcomes. A well-designed plan that employees don't understand or engage with has failed at its core purpose.

This conviction is what drives our work in participant education. Our lead advisor was named PLANADVISER Retirement Plan Advisor of the Year for Participant Service in 2024 and a finalist for 403(b) Advisor of the Year in both 2025 and 2026, our approach to participant engagement goes well beyond enrollment meetings and generic handouts.

We help participants understand:

  • The purpose and structure of their retirement plan

  • Investment principles and the power of long-term, consistent behavior

  • How their workplace plan fits into their broader financial life

  • What retirement actually looks like, and how to prepare for it with confidence

When participants understand their plan, they use it better. When they use it better, the plan succeeds. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.

The Dual Focus Advantage

Because we also serve individual wealth management clients, we bring a perspective to retirement plan consulting that pure institutional advisors simply can't replicate. We understand how participants experience their financial lives both inside and outside of their employer-sponsored plan, the competing priorities, the confusion, the moments where the right guidance makes a lasting difference.

That perspective shapes how we design investment lineups, structure education programs, and communicate with participants across every type of organization we serve.

Fiduciary Governance – A Framework for Clear Oversight and Accountability.

We help plan sponsors and committees build governance frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and defensible decision-making. This includes:

  • Clear investment policy statements and documentation

  • Regular, structured investment review meetings

  • Cost awareness and fee transparency processes

  • Alignment between plan design and participant needs

Our goal is to help fiduciaries make informed decisions with confidence, and to ensure that when decisions are questioned, the process speaks for itself.

Our Commitment to Plan Sponsors

Whether you're a corporation offering a 401(k), a nonprofit stewarding a 403(b), or a governmental entity managing a 457 plan, our commitment is the same: disciplined guidance, genuine fiduciary partnership, and an education-first approach that treats your employees' financial futures with the seriousness they deserve.

We didn't build FoxHedge to be another name on a vendor list. We built it to be the kind of retirement plan advisor that organizations and participants remember, because the work actually made a difference.
